Weekend Update #2

What an awesome Sunday! A house full of some of my favorite women, pink Mimosas (thank you, S, for thinking of Grenadine! mmmmmm) and we even got a tiny bit of craftiness in towards the end there. Not a whole lot... everyone was way too busy talking and catching up. You'd think we could talk and knit at the same time, and sometimes we can, but look at this...

This is what one side of the room looked like most of the day and then the other side looked like this:

In the center you can see the all important fan. It's a gorgeous day as I write this to you, but Sunday? Oooooohno. Sunday had to be the tail end of the heat wave that just rolled itself through Los Angeles. But that's fine because the little scene there on the left side of the photo? THAT is the most awesome and wonderful K who spent the day giving us pedicures! The water she used was sooooooo nice and cool.

K is a wonderful friend of the group who lives up in San Francisco. She's down here every once in a while and we get in as much time with her as we can. When I invited her to come to the party, she lamented that she didn't have anything crafty to do. I told her it was no problem... The GCP is as much of an excuse for us all to drink on a Sunday afternoon together (and talk.... did I mention talk?) as it is to actually DO stuff. But when she walked in with that foot soaker and a bag full of nail polish? Ooooooohman... my toes have little flowers on them. hee!

Thanks, Lady!

Another big cause for celebration was that my Wifey, Eva, finally got into the Make Up Union! Whoohoo!

She had actually spent the morning at the Union headquarters, filling out final paperwork and getting sworn in. hee! They actually swear you in... too funny.

If you're not a part of the entertainment industry, you probably don't know what a big deal it can be to get into the Unions. They notoriously make it as difficult as possible, (Eva's been working at it for 11 years and she's really good and works a lot!) with it usually coming down to luck. This last year, Eva's luck turned and one of the shows she was working on went union, finally getting her in.

Now, she's finally going to be able to get the kind of work that will not only pay the rent on a studio apartment but that'll eventually enable her to buy a house and have the kind of life she's been working so hard for. I'm so happy for her!!!

Congratulations my most wonderous best friend!!!! I love you!!!

Next entry.... did a certain someone get her mystery gift box yet? Stay tuned and find out!

Yay for pedicures! And yay for Eva! So cool to have my make-up and hair done by her that weekend. So sad the plague kept me from such a fun day *pout*
