First, let me introduce you to Snickerdoodle. She's been in the family for a while and didn't want to get left behind this time. She and Hoofie are best friends so he was over the moon to have her along...It made taking sneaky photos a bit difficult but everyone embraced them with open arms and they took on the nickname "Gnomies" because of their resemblance to the infamous lawn gnomes who have traveled the world. It's all good to me! Hell, anything that helps me come across as even a LITTLE less dorky is always awesome in my book.
So, we got on the road at a lively 4am so we could get to Arizona in time to meet up with my Mom and Sister and make it to our Cousin's wedding that afternoon.
We barely had time for a nap before having to head out, so we took advantage of the down time once we got there to get a glass of wine at a very nice little restaurant just next to the wedding site.
Of course, then we didn't have enough time to finish before having to go outside to the wedding so we took our wine with us.hee! We're so bad... but it makes a wedding so much more fun...
And that's enough of that so we'll move right along to the next day when we hit the road to take our Mother to the Grand Canyon! My sister drove up while Mom kept the kids company. I navigated (and worked on Mariah)
This pit stop was almost as good as the Loves from our SF trip
You know, it's right about here where I'm so happy for all of my friends who don't have to sit through a slide show of all the pictures coming up, like our parents' generation had to. You can skim, click on one or two that catch your eye, and move on without losing an entire evening of the saaaaaame pictures over and over of a big hole in the ground.
Now, it's a pretty damned spectacular hole in the ground, don't get me wrong! We literally cried when we first saw it, it was so overwhelming. But the only thing you'd cry over is that the piiiiiiiiiiiictures neeeeeeeeeever eeeeeeeeeeeeeend so I'm only including a few, (out of the huuuundreds we took,) and making 'em little.
We went on an awesome bus tour and had dinner at a restaurant right on the rim of the canyon
And that is all the cutting, pasting and picture maneuvering I can handle today. Tomorrow, the trip back and the hunt for knitting stores in Arizona! Will we find one? Stay tuned...
